DELL WARRANTY REPAIR PROCEDURE
If you have a hardware problem with one of the new Dell
computers that you are unable to solve, you may contact
Dell technical support at:
1-800-234-1490
You will need to know the serial number for the piece of
equipment with the problem. For a Dell computer, that
number will probably begin with "HCFTR" and should be
located on the back of your CPU. If you cannot locate
this number, contact the NPS Purchasing Department,
447-6553 and give them the NPS barcode number.
They can look up the serial number of your computer from
that bar code number.
The Dell technical support people will want to walk you
through some elementary troubleshooting techniques over
the telephone so you should call them from a telephone
near the computer, if possible. If you are uncomfortable
opening the case of your computer, then you may want to
have your Site Contact Person submit a Technology
Work Request (TWR) to the District
Computer Center and one of our Computer Technicians can
perform the preliminary troubleshooting for you. If the
problem cannot be resolved over the telephone, then Dell
may dispatch a computer technician come to your site and
perform the repair.
