Students will demonstrate the ability to create, manipulate, and label geometric shapes consisting of lines and angles.

  1. Discussion terms: lines, angles, and flip, turn, slide, perpendicular, parallel, intersecting.

  2. Open Microsoft Word and use the Draw toolbar (View>Toolbars> Drawing) to create lines and angles and other geometric shapes using the tools and buttons.

  3. Use the Draw>Rotate or Flip menu items on the Draw toolbar, or the Free Rotate tool on the draw toolbar to rotate and flip the shapes.

  4. Use the text tool to identify: angles; perpendicular, parallel and intersecting lines; and flip horizontal, vertical, and rotate. To create a text box click on the black and white "A" button (next to the circle button) on the toolbar, click next to your shape, then start typing. As long as the text box is selected you can change the words, font, style, color, etc.
