A. Begin to develop an art vocabulary.
B. Name and describe basic qualities of
line, color, form, shape, texture, value (light and dark)
and space (elements of design).
E. Demonstrate beginning skills of
composition (arrangement) in his/her own art work,
including variation of size and shape, color and
contrast, space arrangement and texture.
F. Discuss the principles of design:
rhythm, balance, contrast, movement, center of interest
(emphasis) and repetition.
I. Describe similarities and differences
in works of art produced in various times and places.

Strand:
Shape
Objective: Demonstrate use of geometric shapes with
variety and repetition.
- Define variety and repetition.
- Discuss and relate to fabric
prints, wallpaper, blocks in a row.
- From the Start menu, open the
paint program. (Start>Common
Programs>Accessories>Paint )
- Use the line tool to divide page
in half vertically.

- Draw three of the same shapes on
one side. Use the rectangle, circle, or trapezoid
tool to make the shapes.
- Draw three different shapes on the
other side.
- Use the eraser to erase any
mistakes. For big mistakes, teacher should
demonstrate how to use the Edit>Undo menu.
- Print the page.
- Exit the program.
- Discussion Questions: How do
you feel about the two sides? Which do you like
best? Why?
