This activity can be
modified to use any theme, holiday, or storybook.
Have students:
- Brainstorm, web, and/or list nouns and adjectives
that go with the holiday.
- Type in the URL to Grandpa Tucker's
Rhymes and Tales and press the
Enter/Return key on the keyboard. http://www.grandpatucker.com/
- Bookmark this website (in Navigator go to Bookmark>Add
Bookmark; in Explorer go to to Favorites>Add
to Favorites...).
- Click on a link to one of the Holiday Pages. Read
the poems.
- Type in the URL to Lycos RhymeZone
http://rhyme.lycos.com.
Bookmark the web site. Find words that rhyme with
the brainstormed list, and choose some rhyming
words to use.

- Open and save a new word processing file.
- Type in a holiday poem using the rhyming words
chosen.
- Select the poem text and change the font, style,
size, and alignment.
- Insert appropriate clip art.
- Save and Print the document.
