Description: Students will observe and identify stages in the lifecycles of butterflies as they undergo complete metamorphosis.

Lesson :
1. Provide time for students to explore the attched websites. Teachers may want to put these on their web pages for easy access for students. Have children pick their favorite butterfly to put on their screen so kids can compare the different types.

2. To start, have the students open Paint (START>Common Programs>Accessories>Paint).

3. Next, have students click on the paint brush or spray can. Have them draw one wing. They can then decorate that wing using any feature and color.

4. Now, have students use "Edit" and "Select All" from the menu bar.

5. Students need to "Edit - COPY" and "Edit - PASTE."

6. Students will have two exact images on their screen. They need to click on the new image and go to "Image" and then "FLIP and ROTATE," to flip the image HORIZONTAL. Students can click on "OK" when the image is set correctly.

7. Students can move the new wing into position, and then add the butterfly body and antenna with a paint brush or spray can.

8. Students can color the body and add a background if they want.

9. Students can also use the text tool to write a sentence about their butterfly (font and color can be changed).

10. Lastly, have students go to "FILE" and "SAVE AS" to save their work. They can save it to the U: drive and print it out if desired.
