Scope & Sequence Objective

Students recognize program and document icons.

Students use tools in a paint program.

Students change colors and patterns in a paint program.

Students use the line and shape tools in a paint program.

Description: Students will create their own simple pattern and share it with the class.

Lesson :
1. From the start menu, students need to open the Paint program (START>Common Program>Accessories>Paint).

2. Using their shape tools, students need to make circles, squares, and rectangles (hold down the SHIFT key and drag the shape for a perfect circle or square).

3. Next, students will create different shapes to form a pattern.

4. After students have completed their pattern, they will need to select a color and then use the paint bucket from the tool bar to fill in each shape. The shapes need to be different colors and they need to make sure they follow a patttern (shape and color). Students can print out their work when they are finished.

NOTES:
The teacher may want to use the students' pictures to create a class book or to save it as a PowerPoint for their classroom web page. Students can set Paint on view and "view bitmap" so other students can take a pattern walk to see all the projects created.
