Paint the Plant

Description: Students will create
a picture using a Paint program to illustrate and label
the parts of a plant. Lesson : 1. Have students open a Paint program (START>Common Programs, Accessories, PAINT). 2. Give students at least 15 minutes to explore the different tools that are available in a Paint program. Encourage them to try as many different tools as possible. 3. After exploration have students go to Edit > Select all... to select all the page, then Edit > Cut to clear the page. 4. Have students go to the FILE menu to create a new document in the Paint program. 5. Tell the students that they will create a picture showing the parts of a plant. Pictures should include: seeds, roots, stem, leaves, and flower/fruit. Tell students they must use the text tool, a paint tool, and a shape tool. 6. Have the students include a sentence describing the parts of their plant.
7. Have students save their work (FILE>SAVE AS). 8. When students have finished their painting, have them print out their work (FILE>PRINT).* *To make sure that pictures print to just one page you must change the page size.
