A. Perform addition by joining sets of objects and subtraction by separating and by comparing sets of objects.
B. Use strategies to develop operation sense (e.g., fact families, ten frames).
C. Develop and apply properties of addition using models and manipulatives (e.g., 2 + 4 = 4 + 2, 3 + 0 = 3).
D. Use models to construct addition and subtraction facts to 10 (e.g., counters, cubes, ten frames).
E. Write addition and subtraction number sentences for problem situations.

B. Organize, describe, and display data using concrete objects, pictures, prepared grids, and numbers.

Students click, double-click, and click and drag the mouse.

Students recognize program and document icons.

Students click on an icon, folder, or document to open or start a program.

Students open and save files to their own network drive.

Students print a document.

Students insert a letter or word using the cursor.

Students use tools in a paint program.

Students use the line and shape tools in a paint program.

Students use the text tool to describe a picture in a paint program.

Students use the keyboard to type capitals and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Students type words.

Description: Students will create two sets of objects using a Paint program and will write an equation.

1. Have students open a paint program.

2. Give students at least 15 minutes to explore the different tools that are available in a paint program. Encourage them to try many different tools as possible.

3. After exploration have students go to Edit > Select All to select all the page, then Edit > Cut to clear the page.

4. Tell the students that they will create a picture showing two sets of leaves, pumpkins, etc. Tell students that they must use the text tool, a paint tool, and a shape tool.

5. Have the students include an addition number sentence to describe their picture.

6. Have students Save (File > Save)

7. When students have finished their painting have them print their work (File > Print)*

*To make sure that pictures print to just one page you must change the page size.
