Workshop Descriptions **Workshops with a double asterix are for certified staff who have already attended Intelligent Classroom training.
Web 2.0 - Part 1: Learn new and creative ways to collaborate with other teachers and
present content to your students using Web 2.0 tools like Prezi, Glogster,
Dipity, VoiceThread, and Wordle. June 8, 8:30—11:30 (NHS) Calypso
Gilstrap and Martha Pangburn, instructors. Park
on east side of building and enter east library door. Web 2.0 - Part 2: Using Web 2.0 students can collaborate and create new products which
can be shared with a class, school, and community. Learn tools like Animoto. Bubbl.us, Glogster,
Pixton, Storybird, and Sync.in. June 8,

Podcasting Basics with Audacity: Learn to record, edit, and mix audio using Audacity (free, and part of the Intelligent Classroom software), and save your file as an mp3 file to insert in a presentation, post on a web page or in Moodle. June 10, 8:30 - 11:30, and August 2, 8:30 - 11:30 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Safari Montage Video on Demand: Learn how to find the videos you need, create and
edit playlists, and share your playlists with other NPS teachers. June 17, 8:30 - 11:30, and August 2, 1:00 -
4:00 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Skype: Bring the world into your classroom with Skype video
conferencing (free, and part of the Intelligent Classroom software). With a
webcam or document camera and your computer you can connect with students,
guest experts, friends and family around the world. Participants will engage in
a videoconference and set up a Skype account. June 24, 8:30 - 11:30, July 5,
1:00 - 4:00, and August 4, 8:30 - 11:30 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Google Docs 1: Word
Processing & Presentation: Create,
save, edit, collaborate, share, and link to documents with your NPS Google
account. This workshop will introduce users to the word processing and
presentation capabilities of Google Docs, and strategies for using Google Docs
with students. June 14, 8:30 - 11:30,
June 20, 1:00 - 4:00, and July 25, 1:00
- 4:00 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Google Docs 2:
Spreadsheet & Forms: Create,
save, edit, collaborate, share, and link online spreadsheets and forms with
your NPS Google account. This workshop will introduce users to the spreadsheet
and survey/quiz form capabilities of Google Docs, and strategies for using
Google Docs with students. June 15, 8:30 - 11:30, June 21, 1:00 - 4:00, and
July 26, 1:00 - 4:00 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Google Sites Web Pages: Quickly create and edit a professional looking web
site through your NPS Google account. Participants will create a media-rich web
site that can be edited online (and from home) 24-7. June 16,
8:30 - 11:30, June 22, 1:00 - 4:00, July 6, 1:00 - 4:00 and August 4, 1:00 - 4:00 (ISC). Lee
Nelson, instructor. iGoogle & Picasa
Web Album: Create a custom iGoogle “start page” to keep up with
the topics and news that interest you, and share your iGoogle pages and gadgets
with others. Store, edit, and share photos with an NPS Google Picasa Web Album.
Participants will set up an iGoogle page and a Picasa Web Album, upload photos,
edit, share albums, and link albums to web pages. June 23, 1:00 - 4:00, July 5, 8:30 - 11:30, and August 8, 1:00 -
4:00 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Google Maps & Earth: Incorporate Google Maps and Google Earth (free software) into your instruction. Learn how to create and save your own custom maps, view maps in Google Earth, and create "tours" and "Lit Trips." June 28, 8:30 - 11:30, and July 28, 1:00 - 4:00 (ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor.
**SPARK Clicker
Integration for PreK – 2: Participants will build or add content to a CPS
database and explore the modes by which the SPARK clicker can be integrated
into content lessons. Participants will
walk through lesson creation, “engage” the lesson to collect data, and review
the reports created by the CPS program regarding the lesson. June 8, 8:30—11:30 (ISC). Kate
Shannon, instructor. **PULSE Clicker
Integration for grades 3 -12: Participants will build or add content to a CPS
database and explore the modes by which the PULSE clicker can be integrated
into content lessons. Participants will
walk through lesson creation, “engage” the lesson to collect data, and review
the reports created by the CPS program regarding the lesson. June 8, 1:00—4:00 (ISC). Kate Shannon,
instructor. **Intelligent Classroom
Best Practices (elementary): NOTE: This workshop is for Site Contacts and Champions
only! Participants will share best
practices they have discovered working with the Intelligent Classroom
technology package to develop shared knowledge.
Participants are encouraged to share troubleshooting and support
strategies which have worked for teachers in their buildings and celebrate
successes. June 9, 8:30 - 11:30
(ISC). Kate Shannon, instructor. **Intelligent Classroom
Best Practices (secondary): NOTE: This workshop is for Site Contacts and Champions
only! Participants will share best
practices they have discovered working with the Intelligent Classroom
technology package to develop shared knowledge.
Participants are encouraged to share troubleshooting and support
strategies which have worked for teachers in their buildings and celebrate
successes. June 9, 1:00 - 4:00 (ISC).
Kate Shannon, instructor. **Intelligent Classroom: Participants
will review basic operation of the Intelligent Classroom Technologies including
connecting and turning “on” equipment, troubleshooting, and basic integration
strategies during this hands-on session.
June 29, 8:30 - 11:30 (ISC). Kate Shannon, instructor. **Interwrite Workspace: In this
Workspace specific session, participants will explore in-depth the tools
available within this program for lesson development. Additionally, integration of other
Intelligent Classroom technologies within Interwrite Workspace will be
explored, including Mobi, “clicker” and document camera integration. June 29, 1:00 4:00 (ISC). Kate Shannon, instructor. **Intelligent Classroom
Advanced Integration Strategies:
Participants will explore and share
advanced integration strategies such as: adding content to the Workspace
Gallery, creating and sharing video of lessons, multi-user mode with “Learners”
advanced preference options, PowerPoint
for CPS, sharing lessons, inserting media files, advanced document camera
options (Skype), and integration of multiple Intelligent Classroom technologies
simultaneously. June 30, 8:30 - 11:30 (ISC). Kate Shannon, instructor.
Moodle Basic: This is the beginning workshop if you are starting
your first Moodle course. Set up your course, add Blocks, Labels, upload and
link to files and folders, and add links to web sites. This workshop will be
offered 4 times: June 13, 1:00 -
4:00, June 20, 8:30 - 11:30, July 25, 8:30 - 11:30, and August 9, 1:00 - 4:00
(ISC). Lee Nelson, instructor. Moodle Forum &
Chat: Set
up different types of discussion forums and chat in Moodle for a variety of
purposes; discuss strategies and best practice for their use. June 15, 1:00
- 4:00, June 22, 8:30 - 11:30 and July 28, 8:30 - 11:30 (ISC). Lee Nelson,
instructor. Moodle Quiz: Create quizzes with different types of questions:
multiple choice, true/false, matching, and short answer. Explore the different
ways to set up and give quizzes: time limits, feedback, number of attempts,
adaptive mode, etc. Learn the procedure for importing Examview quizzes into
Moodle. June 27, 8:30 - 11:30, June 27,
