Celebrating 30 Years of A
Dog Called Kitty!
Keynote Speaker: Bill Wallace

Gibson, 2009
2010 marks the 30th
anniversary of the publication of Bill Wallace's first book, A Dog Called
Kitty, and in those 30 years it has never gone out of print. This is a major
accomplishment in a time when most books go out of print in 3 years or less!
We are very excited to welcome Mr. Wallace as our keynote speaker for GLO 2010.
We hope you will plan to attend GLO and celebrate 30 years of A Dog Called
Kitty with us. Limited quantities of Mr. Wallace's books will be
available for purchase and autographing at the festival. We are sorry, but due
to time constraints only books purchased at the festival will be autographed.
GLO 2010 will be
held Saturday morning, February 13, 2010, 8:15-1:00, at Longfellow
Middle School, 215 N. Ponca Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma.
The Get the Lead Out!
(GLO) Festival for Young Authors and Artists
was instituted in 2003 to recognize and foster the talents and skills
of students by providing
opportunities for them to work with career professionals in the arts
and writing. GLO Workshop sessions at the festival focus on hands-on
experience and introduce career options in the arts. The festival is an
annual project of the Longfellow Gifted and Talented Program, but
participation is open to any Oklahoma student in grades 4-8.
Who should
attend? You, if you enjoy writing,
poetry, drawing, painting, sculpture,
pottery, collage, filming video, or making jewelry or crafts!
GLO 2010 Forms and Information
This year's
festival again features art and writing contests for elementary and
middle schoolers. First, second, and third place trophies and cash
prizes of $20, $15, and $10, respectively will be awarded to the
winners in each division.
