Jeffy Challenge 2016

Dear Jefferson Families,

Today we kicked off our annual Jeffy Challenge fundraising event.  The Jeffy Challenge is our campus’s lone fundraising drive where 100% of the proceeds are returned to the school.  Every year our wonderful PTA sponsors this great event and uses the money raised to support our school throughout the following school year.

Just a couple quick Jeffy Challenge reminders:
  •  Students will turn in their pledge envelopes every Tuesday.
  •  Be creative with your fundraising, go door to door (with supervision), go after sponsorships, any and all fundraising is encouraged.
  •  Have fun while you're doing it- email pictures of the fundraising process to our PTA so we can recognize your participation.
We encourage our families and friends to join us on Friday mornings for our weekly Jeffy Challenge assemblies meet this challenge.  Our goal is for every student to actively participate in this challenge, and we are strongest when we all work together towards a common goal!

Sincerely,
Shauna Singleton

Letter from Our Principal

March 31, 2016

Dear Jefferson Family,

April will be officially underway tomorrow, and it’s a jam-packed month full of everything from state assessments to our annual school-wide fundraiser.  Below is a list of all the upcoming activities and events taking place at Jefferson Elementary during the month of April:

§  3rd 9 Weeks Awards Assembly, 4/1

§  2nd Grade Program, 4/7

§  Coffee with the Principal, 4/8

§  PTA Family Picnic, 4/8

§  3rd Grade State Assessments, 4/11 – 4/14

§  4th Grade State Assessments, 4/18 – 4/21

§  5th Grade State Assessments, 4/11 – 4/21

§  Papa Murphy’s Night, 4/20

§  5th Grade Legacy Project Car Wash, 4/16

§  Jeffy Challenge Walk, 4/22

§  Jefferson Jazzer’s Spring Concert, 4/28

§  School Holiday/No School, 4/29

Throughout April, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be tackling their state assessments in the areas of reading, math, science (5th), and social studies (5th).  With that being said, it’s important that all students are on time and at school ready to go by 8:00am.  A good night’s sleep and a good breakfast go a long way towards helping set our students up for success each day of testing.  Both academic and behavioral stamina are disrupted when students start their day off without a good night’s sleep and on an empty stomach.  Help us help our students by planning ahead and arriving ready to go throughout the month of April.

Also this month, Jefferson Elementary will be tackling our annual fundraiser- The Jeffy Challenge. The Jeffy Challenge is our school’s only fundraiser and 100% of the proceeds are returned to the school.  Every year our wonderful PTA sponsors this great event and uses the money raised to support our school throughout the following school year.  Please touch base with your child(ren) about what they can do to help us meet this challenge.  Our goal is for every student to actively participate in this challenge, and we are strongest when we all work together towards a common goal!

As I stated before, April is jam-packed with many important events/activities.  As always, my door is always open; don’t hesitate to get in touch, and thank you for the opportunity to learn/work with your children.

Sincerely,

Welcome

February 4, 2016
Dear Jefferson Family,
February is going to be a fun-filled month, full of a number of school related activities.  We
recently celebrated our 100th day of school. Friendship parties and our first round of state
assessment (5th grade only) are right around the corner, and we are fresh into our annual
HEARTS 2016 Challenge.  If you are looking for a way to get involved in your child’s school,
February should present you with a number of great opportunities.  Below is a list of all the
upcoming activities and events taking place at Jefferson Elementary during the month of
February:
 HEARTS Challenge Begins, 2/1
 Coffee with the Principal, 2/5
 Friendship Parties, 2/12
 President’s Day – No School, 2/15
 PTA Skate Night, 2/18
 State Writing Assessment (5th Grade), 2/24
 Jump Rope for Hearts, 2/26
As I stated above, this month we began our HEARTS Challenge.  During the month of February
and the first couple of weeks in March, we challenge our students to earn more HEARTS than
they do on average in a given week.  This year we have challenged the student body to
collectively earn 300 HEARTS stickers during this challenge window.  In the event that our
students rise up and meet this challenge, a morning celebration activity will take place the
Thursday before their spring break vacation begins.  We would love your support throughout
this month in pumping up your child to join in this positive school-wide opportunity.
We’re going to have a busy and exciting February here at Jefferson Elementary.  As always, my
door is always open; don’t hesitate to get in touch, and thank you for the opportunity to
learn/work with your children.
Sincerely,
Dominic Barone
