Congratulations to Jefferson's Teacher of the Year!

February 4, 2016
Dear Jefferson Family,
February is going to be a fun-filled month, full of a number of school related activities.  We
recently celebrated our 100th day of school. Friendship parties and our first round of state
assessment (5th grade only) are right around the corner, and we are fresh into our annual
HEARTS 2016 Challenge.  If you are looking for a way to get involved in your child’s school,
February should present you with a number of great opportunities.  Below is a list of all the
upcoming activities and events taking place at Jefferson Elementary during the month of
 HEARTS Challenge Begins, 2/1
 Coffee with the Principal, 2/5
 Friendship Parties, 2/12
 President’s Day – No School, 2/15
 PTA Skate Night, 2/18
 State Writing Assessment (5th Grade), 2/24
 Jump Rope for Hearts, 2/26
As I stated above, this month we began our HEARTS Challenge.  During the month of February
and the first couple of weeks in March, we challenge our students to earn more HEARTS than
they do on average in a given week.  This year we have challenged the student body to
collectively earn 300 HEARTS stickers during this challenge window.  In the event that our
students rise up and meet this challenge, a morning celebration activity will take place the
Thursday before their spring break vacation begins.  We would love your support throughout
this month in pumping up your child to join in this positive school-wide opportunity.
We’re going to have a busy and exciting February here at Jefferson Elementary.  As always, my
door is always open; don’t hesitate to get in touch, and thank you for the opportunity to
learn/work with your children.
