VAP is a program designed to place art specialists in Norman Public Schools classrooms. The specialists' names and descriptions are included in the program roster. The Visiting Artist Program is sponsored by the Norman Arts Council and the Norman Public Schools. Each school in the district will receive a predetermined amount of money to be spent on this project and must match this amount dollar for dollar. Participation is limited to those schools who decide to participate. All schools may choose to be part of this program. Schools must decide to participate or not by the end of September of each school year. This is a full year program. Each school/classroom will decide how best to use the allocated monies. Schools are given money based on the following formula: Elementary Schools $300.00 Middle Schools $350.00 High Schools $400.00 Leland Wolf $300.00 Dimensions $300.00 This is a matching amount. For example, if a school chooses to have 'X' artist in their school that would cost a total of $100.00, the school will pay $50.00 and the VAP will pay $50.00. Upon your acceptance of this program, you will place the matching money from your account into the appropriate Fine Arts account. If you would like to match at a lesser amount please contact Mary McGuire at 366-5840 before you transfer your funds. Each service must be contracted with each artist. Please keep in mind that all contracts must be signed by principals and artists and turned in to the NPS Fine Arts Department by April 1, 2009. Artists will not be paid until evaluation forms are received from both the artist and teacher.
