Welcome to NPS Fine Arts! Our website includes a calendar of events, information on faculty and staff and our district-wide programs, and useful links to other websites. The Fine Arts Department of the Norman Public Schools district includes discipline-based programs in visual art, general music, instrumental music, vocal music, theatrical arts, and modern dance. The Fine Arts Department also supports and facilitates correlation and integration activities and events among the arts and between the arts and other subject areas. We believe that the strength of the arts lies in our discipline-based programs and that the arts also have the power to inform other academic areas, and to be informed by those areas for enhanced learning experiences.
We are fortunate to live in a community that supports education and the arts, and to have the support of our Board of Education, Central Office administration, site administrators and faculty and staff throughout Norman. Our Fine Arts faculty and students are actively involved, dedicated, and are consistent high achievers. Through setting rigorous yet attainable standards and providing instruction that is developmentally appropriate for students, NPS Fine Arts continues to be recognized for excellence at state and national levels.
Department of Fine Arts Mission Statement
Every student in the Norman Public Schools will have the opportunity to study the arts. Through this endeavor, students will acquire the skills to perform and create quality fine and performing arts products, develop problem-solving techniques for intellectual and artistic pursuits, appreciate the works of other artists, and value the arts in their everyday lives.
Fine Arts Staff Mission Statement
The Fine Arts Staff will engage positively with school personnel, students and the public. The Fine Arts Staff will make every possible effort, use every reasonable resource, to create the best possible experiences for our teachers and their students, as well as for parents, patrons and the community.
We have made every reasonable attempt to insure that our web pages are educationally sound and do not contain links to
materials that violate the District's Student Policy on Internet and Internet Safety for the Computer Network.
