References to "parent" may be interpreted broadly to include parents/guardians/legal custodians, the adults who play a primary role in the responsibility for a child’s education and well-being.

Volunteering

Lincoln Elem. parent volunteer MacMurphy Bundrick with Daisy, her canine companion...Volunteering to work at school functions, accompanying students on field trips, working in the office or school library, serving on parent organization committees, or working for the passage of bond or millage campaigns are important activities for parent involvement that provide positive role models for students.

Assisting

It is important for parents to be involved in school activities - homeroom parent, parent-teacher organiationsl, field trips, fund-raising events, volunteer worker.

    • prepare school or classroom scrapbooks photograph events

    AT HOME
    • save items the school is collecting for fund-raising events
    • contact other parents for meeting or event times
    • assist with preparing customs for school programs
    • collect meterials for classroom use

    IN THE COMMUNITY
    • serve on school-community committees
    • help with special events
    • attend school events offered in the community
