Full-day Pre-K programs are offered at every site in Norman Public Schools. A half-day option is also available and is a great option for parents looking for a flexible schedule or for those not seeking a full-day program. Classes are taught by certified early childhood teachers and a teacher assistant with a maximum class size of 20 students. Transportation is not provided for Pre-K students.
All Norman Public Schools elementary schools also offer full-day Kindergarten programs. Class is held from 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Norman Public Schools uses an integrated curriculum, which follows the Oklahoma Academic Standards. Adopted materials for Pre-K include Learning Without Tears, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Everyday Math, A Head Start on Science, and Second Step. Adopted materials for Kindergarten include Savvas MyView, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, UFLI, TCI Social Studies, Oklahoma Math, and STC Elementary Science. Each developmentally appropriate Kindergarten classroom fosters growth in the areas of intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and language development.
