Strong Readers Act
The Strong Readers Act (formerly the Reading Sufficiency Act) is designed to make sure every child receives the support they need to build strong reading skills from the very beginning. It emphasizes early, research-based reading instruction and ongoing communication with families about each child’s progress.
At Norman Public Schools, we know parents/guardians are a child’s first and most important teachers, and literacy starts at home. Beginning in kindergarten, your child’s reading development will be closely monitored so we can provide timely resources and support.
This page is here to keep you informed and involved, offering tools, updates, and guidance to help your child grow as a reader. Together, we can build a strong foundation that prepares your child to thrive in school and beyond.
As required by the Strong Readers Act (70 O.S. § 1210.508C).
