Norman, OK —Norman Public Schools (NPS) officially celebrated the grand opening of its new Early Learning Center (ELC) with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the NPS Center for Arts and Learning. The event marked the launch of a district-operated childcare program designed to provide affordable, high-quality early childhood education for children of current NPS employees.

The new center is tailored to serve employees who are expecting or have children under the age of four as of September 1, 2025. The ELC will open its doors in August, offering an enriching, hands-on curriculum that fosters autonomy, creativity and early learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

“This is a dream that has long lived in the hearts of NPS families, and it is finally a reality,” said Ann Rosales, Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning for Norman Public Schools. “We know that inspired learning begins with inspired educators. This center is also a message to our amazing teachers and staff—a message that says: we see you, we value you and we are here to support you and your families.”

NPS Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino echoed the significance of the new facility for the district.

“There are so many opportunities that this is going to bring to Norman Public Schools,” Migliorino said. “We haven’t even scratched the surface on what this facility is going to mean—not only for this generation starting here this year, but for so many generations to come. It is going to have a huge, huge impact.”

The ELC initiative reflects Norman Public Schools' broader efforts to recruit and retain top-tier educators and staff by offering meaningful benefits that directly support their well-being and work-life balance.
