Norman Public Schools is now enrolling students for Fall 2026 in its innovative Building Blocks Pre-K Program, a flexible hybrid learning option designed to help families customize their child’s first school experience.
Building Blocks offers a unique combination of at-home and in-school learning, providing families with flexibility while maintaining meaningful routines and high-quality early childhood instruction. To enroll for the 2026–2027 school year, children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2026.
The program follows the same trusted curriculum used across all district Pre-K classrooms. Core instruction includes Learning Without Tears, encompassing all subject areas. Students also benefit from supplemental programs including Heggerty (phonemic awareness and literacy), Everyday Math, A Head Start on Science, and Second Step (social-emotional learning and citizenship).
The Building Blocks model is structured with flexibility:
Mondays and Fridays are at-home learning days. Teachers provide engaging, hands-on, play-based activities through a learning kit supplied to families. Activities are intentionally non-technology focused to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and meaningful family interaction.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are optional in-school learning days. Families may select one, two, or all three days, which remain consistent throughout the school year to help children establish predictable routines.
Building Blocks is located at Truman Primary, 601 Meadow Ridge Rd., Norman, OK.
Families interested in learning more are invited to attend an open house on Monday, March 9, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. to meet staff, explore the program structure, and ask questions about enrollment.
